Rambutan (Malvan)

Rambutan is the most popular fruit of Southeast Asia. The fruits of rambutan are red to yellow in colour with long hair-like structures, and the edible portion is translucent and juicy.Rambutan grows well in warm tropical climate.
Malwan is the most popular variety grown in Sri Lanka. It is quite attractive to see trees covered with fruit bunches. The fruit is juicier compared to other rambutan varieties and hence shelf life will be lower. However, the high yield of this variety
provides an impetus for commercial cultivation.
