The lychee tree is popular for the sweet fruit it produces. The lychee tree is of medium height slow growing tree with a dense round top and can reach 35 – 40 feet in height. The major litchi producing countries of the world are China, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, South Africa and Nepal. It has adapted well to the climate in Eastern India, i.e. Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
