Honge, Known as Karanja or Indian Beech, is a medium sized glabrous evergreen tree native to Western Ghats and chiefly found in tidal forests of India. Fruits, bark, seeds, seed oil, leaves, roots and flowers of Pongamia pinnata have been recommended for use as medicines.

Uses – t is well known for its application as animal fodder, green manure, timber and fish poison.
Health benefits – Treatment of tumours, piles, skin diseases, itches, wounds, ulcers and diarrhea etc.
Industrial uses – tanning leather, soap etc. Wood is used for cabinet making, cart wheels, agricultural implements, and tool handles.
