Egg fruit

The Egg Fruit tree grows to a medium size, not more than 25 feet, with a slender shape and a dense spreading crown. Its fruit got its name because its texture is similar to a hard-boiled egg yolk. The skin is very smooth and glossy, and the fruit can be round, oval, or heart-shaped, sometimes with a curved tip. The flesh inside is lemon-yellow or pale orange-yellow and tastes sweet and musky, like a baked sweet potato. Egg Fruit can be used in custards, milkshakes, spreads on toast, pancakes, cupcakes, and jams.
