Carambola, also known as starfruit, is a species of tree native to tropical Southeast Asia. It is a sweet and sour fruit that has the shape of a five-point star.The skin is edible and the flesh has a mild, sour flavor that makes it popular in a number of dishes. The entire fruit is edible, including the slightly waxy skin. The flesh is crunchy, firm, and extremely juicy. The carambola tree has a short trunk with many branches, reaching up to 30 feet (9.1 m) in height.
